Glad you asked. Buy our starter kits that come with a reusable Eternity Bottle and an eco-friendly cleaner refill in powder form. Empty the refill contents into the bottle and slowly fill with tap water. Leave room for the spray cap. Mild foaming is natural. Wait for 2-3 minutes and get ready to clean. No need to shake the bottle as it will cause excessive foaming.

We recommend emptying the contents of the refill into your Eternity bottle first and then adding water. This will speed up mixing and you will be ready to clean within minutes. Adding water first, then refill contents will also work, it might take the contents slightly longer to fully dissolve. 

The surfactants will naturally foam up when water is added. Reduce water speed while pouring, because we don’t like wasting water and you don’t like to waste your cleaner with excessive foaming. Shaking is not recommended as that will also result in excessive foaming.

Our formulations are specially designed to reduce steps for you. You don’t need to shake or stir at all. In fact, shaking will result in excessive foaming. We have optimised the product to dissolve on its own in under five minutes. So all you have to do, is to let it stand for a few minutes. It will dissolve automatically.

Good question, this is not a science experiment, so we have simplified things for you. The contents should dissolve in any temperature of water, however, we recommend using room temperature for best results.

We have designed our products to work with tap water, however, if you have access to filtered water, it will work better as it typically has fewer impurities. 

We have developed and tested our products for soft and hard water. Our non-toxic cleaning ingredients include food-grade Citric Acid which is a chelating agent. Chelating agents are used for binding metal ions, such as Calcium and Magnesium, commonly found in hard water. This process prevents metal ions in hard water from forming soap scum. 

Essential oils have been used for centuries for their healing and soothing properties. Various essential oils naturally have antimicrobial and antibacterial properties and can be used in place of synthetic, toxic chemicals to clean surfaces. Toxic chemicals kill more of the good bacteria which is necessary for human health. 

Our Multipurpose Cleaner is designed to remove dirt, spills and messy surfaces and can be used on most sealed surfaces. We have perfected it to remove grease and grime from your kitchen, countertops, wooden surfaces. We even use it as a floor cleaner to get rid of dirt and the occasional spill. Use on wood, stone, tile and most sealed surfaces. Spray, let stand for a few seconds, wipe away with a clean dry cloth. 

Our Bathroom Cleaner is best used for limescale, soap scum and dirt on tile, ceramic, porcelain, glass, mirror, stainless steel, metal and stone surfaces. Spray, let stand for a few seconds and wipe away. Buff with a dry cloth. 

Yes, all Spruce products are vegan certified by Vegan Society. We do not use animal derivatives in any of our formulations. 

No, we are strictly against animal testing. None of our products has been tested on animals. Only tested on home surfaces. 

Spruce products are designed to be safe for humans, pets and the planet. We only use ingredients that rate highly on the EWG guide for human and environmental safety. It makes us furious that most products that claim to use eco-friendly, reusable packaging, still use toxic ingredients that are harmful for both humans and the environment.

We do not use harmful chemicals such as SLS, Phthalates, Phosphates, Triclosan, Quaternium-15 DMDM Hydantoin, Parabens, Ammonia, Chlorine, Formaldehyde, Bleach, DEA, TEA, MEA, artificial dyes or fragrances. Any fragrance in our products is from 100% natural, organic essential oils that are present for their functional purposes. 

We do not use harsh chemical-based antibacterial agents. Research says that chemical anti-bacterial agents - essentially pesticides - that claim to kill 99.99% bacteria will typically kill the microbes that are beneficial for maintaining a healthy environment. We do not use triclosan, chlorine bleach or ammonia in our products. We use organic, fair-trade 100% natural essential oils in our products that have natural antimicrobial properties and have been used for centuries for cleaning purposes.

We do not use any synthetic dyes or fragrances in our products. Any fragrance in our products comes from ingredients used for their functional purpose of cleaning. We want your home to smell like a spa sanctuary, therefore we use 100% organic essential oils. 

All ingredients used in our products are fully biodegradable. We aimed to align our products with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 14 to prevent ocean pollution, conserve biodiversity in our oceans and protect marine life from further damage.

Spruce cleaning refill packs are paper-based that are certified 100% plastic-free and home as well as industrial compostable. You can put the packaging in your local council food waste bin by shredding it into tiny pieces or in your home compost. Our compostable packaging meets the EN 13432 compost protocol for biodegradation at ambient temperatures within 6 months. Our packaging will naturally decompose into biomass which can be used to improve soil fertility. 

We don’t recommend disposing of the refill paper packaging in the regular waste bin, for the same reason you shouldn’t dispose of food waste in the regular bin. Food waste disposed of in the regular bin will end up in the landfill where it will most likely not decompose due to lack of oxygen. Our refill packaging is similar to organic food waste which will biodegrade naturally under natural conditions with the help of oxygen and moisture.

We have carefully designed our bottles to last over 100’s of cleanings so you never have to dispose of your bottle. They will not break, leach or discolour. Our bottles are made of aluminium which is infinitely and most commonly recycled material worldwide. In fact, more than 75% of the aluminium in use today is recycled. Enjoy your refillable bottles guilt-free. 

Our Eternity bottles will last you over 100's of cleanings and won't break, leach or get damaged. You can simply rinse the bottle as well as the trigger spray in warm water and soap in between cleanings. 

Aluminium is the most recyclable material in the world, typically it is recycled and back on the shelf with-in 6 weeks, without any loss in material property. A little person might shed a tear when this beautiful bottle is no longer needed. We hope you will truly use it forever. 

Yes, your bottle may dent with the inevitable drop. Treat it gently but also excuse the natural ageing process. Mild denting is a normal part of (the bottle's) life and will add more character to your much-loved bottle. It will be a reminder of how many times you have refilled and reused it, so feel free to be proud and pat yourself on the back. Denting will not affect performance in any way. 

We prefer if you use our beautifully designed bottles that release just the right amount of product and will keep your cleaner safe. We don't recommend refilling the single-use plastic bottles as they leach toxins and microplastics into the contents over time, but feel free to do so if you’d like.

We want to minimise our shipping footprint and cost to you, hence we only ship in packs. Good thing they don't take up much storage space. 

Each refill pack makes a full-sized bottle of 500ml cleaning spray. How long each bottle lasts depends on the size of your home and how often you clean. It should last through the same number of cleanings as a typical store-bought alternative. Be prepared to fall in love with it, that would mean you may end up using it more often.  

Our refill packaging is designed to be supremely earth-friendly and will compost both in your food waste at home as well as industrial compost facilities. We have designed our packaging to keep the contents safe from moisture. However, while it will survive a small amount of moisture exposure, it is not meant to be submerged in a bucket full of water. So please store it in a cool, dry place and avoid getting it soaked in water from an unintended under-the-sink leakage. 

This is perfectly normal. Our refills are packed in moisture and air-resistant packs so the contents are safe. Every now and then the essential oils may cause the contents to crystallise. All you need to do is massage the refill pack to move the product contents around before cutting open the refill. Empty the whole pack in the bottle, and give it a little shake after adding water. Make sure the lid is securely closed. The product performance is not affected.

We ship our extremely lightweight bottles without water content. We hope you have easy access to tap water. Our refills are super-concentrated and weigh under 5g as opposed to 500g of a typical water-filled bottle. That’s one percent of your typical store-bought, toxin-filled, alternative.
