Is your floor cleaner antibacterial? We do not use harsh chemical-based antibacterial agents – essentially pesticides – because research shows that whilst these claim to kill 99.99% of bacteria, this bacteria can simply recolonise and repopulate from a single cell just 20-minutes later. The harsh ingredients in these products contribute to health problems like hormonal imbalances and asthma, and cause more harm to your health rather than keeping you safe. Instead, we carefully select natural and plant-based surfactants for an effective yet safer clean.
Are your natural cleaning products effective? We have thoroughly tested our products against mainstream alternatives to ensure they achieve the same effective clean, but with much safer ingredients. Despite being 100% non-toxic, our floor cleaner is able tackle dirt, spills and grime just as efficiently as mainstream brands, leaving your floor spotless and your home free of nasties.
How long does one bag of floor cleaner last? The answer to this depends on the number of floors you have to clean. You will get through the pack faster if using a traditional mop and bucket versus a spray mop, which uses less floor cleaning solution. On average, this bag lasts up to 25 cleans.
What surfaces can I use your floor cleaner on? Our floor cleaner has been expertly formulated to achieve a spotless clean on sealed wood, tiles, stone, laminate, lino and other hard surface floors.
What does your floor cleaner smell like? Our floor cleaner is fragranced with a blend of organic bergamot, patchouli and geranium essential oils.
Why do you use essential oils to fragrance your products? We are firmly against synthetic fragrances which contain harmful chemicals. Instead, we fragrance our products with spa-smelling organic essential oils which have been used in cleaning for centuries due to their natural antimicrobial and antibacterial properties.
Is your floor cleaner free from toxic chemicals? We only use plant-based, non-toxic ingredients to keep your family and the planet safe. All our ingredients rate highly on the Environmental Working Group (EWG) and European Chemical Agency (ECHA) for human and environmental safety. Our products are free from bleach, ammonia, chlorine, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, palm oil, parabens, pesticides, petroleum, phosphates, SLS and triclosan.
What are Spruce cleaning products made from? Here’s our ingredient list: Citric Acid (Food-grade preservative). Potassium Sorbate (Food-grade preservative). Sodium Benzoate (Food-grade preservative). Sodium Bicarbonate (Food-grade used as mild disinfectant). Sodium Coco Sulfate (Plant-derived surfactant from coconut). Organic Essential Oils (May contain allergens such as Citral, Citronellol, Geraniol, Linalol, Limonène).
What ingredients are NOT in Spruce products? Our products are free from bleach, ammonia, chlorine, artificial colours, synthetic fragrances, palm oil, parabens, pesticides, petroleum, phosphates, SLS and triclosan.
Is your floor cleaner safe to use on my floors if I have pets? Pure 100% essential oils can be a danger to pets, so it is important to make sure your bag of floor cleaning concentrate is kept hidden away from them. However, once the floor cleaner is diluted in water as directed, the concentration of essential oils is so small that using it on your floor shouldn’t pose any risk. We do recommend consulting with a vet beforehand if you are unsure.
How do I prepare your floor cleaner? Spruce is super easy to mix and use. No scientific experiments needed. Simply add one teaspoon of floor cleaner to three litres of warm water and let it dissolve fully. Reduce measurements proportionately if using less water. For example, if using a 750ml spray mop, you can use a quarter of a teaspoon.
How do I properly dispose of the floor cleaner packaging? Our floor cleaner is packed in 100% plastic-free, home and industrial compostable paper. Cut the bag into small pieces and dispose of it with your food waste (which we hope is not sent to the landfill). Cut it up in small bits and compost at home. The pack will turn into rich fertiliser for your plants. Alternatively, dispose of it in your regular waste bin. Do not recycle with paper or plastic. All outer packaging is plastic-free, recyclable, and printed with biodegradable inks.
How should I store the floor cleaner to retain its quality? The compostable bag is durable and resealable for easy storage. We highly recommend keeping away from water and storing in a cool, dry place.
Can I use a bottle to store pre-mixed floor cleaner solution? We don't supply a bottle with our floor cleaner, but if that's how you prefer to use it, you can store it pre-mixed in any bottle for up to three weeks.
Why don't you supply a measuring scoop? Rather than creating more unnecessary plastic, we thought it’d be better to save some waste by reusing what you already have: a teaspoon.
